Upgrading Narrow-Jamb Locks to Maximum Security Locks
The Alabama Department of Juvenile Services in Birmingham, AL had 54 doors with RR Brink 3020 minimum security narrow-jamb locks that would not withstand the abuse the youth gave them. They needed a maximum security lock that would work on the existing doors.
To solve the problem, we developed a new lock-pocket that would hold a Portland 120 maximum security lock. We helped the Architect write the bid specifications and details to cut out the section of the door frame with the old lock-pocket and weld in the new lock-pocket. We won the competitive bid, which also included new control panels, new door closers, and a new intercom system.
The Result: A more secure facility without having to replace the narrow-jamb doors.
